This report describes the first concrete pavement project constructed in Mississippi using what is commonly referred to as Slip-Form Method. By this method, the concrete is placed on the roadway without the use of side forms except for those attached to the paver.

The slip-form method has been successfully used in several other states and Mississippi is fortunate to have obtained prior information from those states. Their experience has indicated that, generally, the same materials can be used as in formed concrete. The construction is faster and some saving in cost can be realized under the slip-form method.

It is contemplated that several future projects in Mississippi will be paved with the slipform method.
