Concrete Pavement (CP) Road Map

By combining more than 250 research problem statements into 12 fully integrated, sequential, and cohesive tracks of research, the CP Road Map will lead to specific products that will dramatically affect the way that concrete pavements are designed and constructed. The innovative track structure and cross-track integration will at once help the research teams focus on their designated tasks and effectively share information where tasks overlap.

Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC)

The home of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) Office of Research, Development, and Technology, the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) is a federally owned and operated research facility in McLean, Virginia. Ongoing research spans six categories: human-centered systems; materials technology; operations & intelligent transportation systems (ITS); pavements; safety; and structures.

The TFHRC Web site contains an extensive section on pavement research, including software, publications, and several pavement-research programs that focus on the structural design, material mix, and construction specifications.

Transportation Research Board (TRB)

Jointly administered by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine, the mission of the Transportation Research Board — one of six major divisions of the National Research Council — is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through research. The TRB fulfills this mission through the work of its standing committees and task forces addressing all modes and aspects of transportation; publication and dissemination of reports and peer-reviewed technical papers on research findings; and through the management of cooperative research and other research programs.

American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA)

Representing concrete pavement contractors, cement companies, equipment and material manufacturers and suppliers, the mission of American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) is to make Portland cement concrete the material of choice for airport, highway, industrial, local road pavements.

Portland Cement Association (PCA)

In addition to serving as a clearinghouse for technical information on cement and concrete from sources worldwide, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) sponsors research directed at extending the boundaries of technical knowledge in the field.
